A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-4-8j, relating
to allowing a school service mechanic to have experience,
training and certifications considered towards his or her pay
rate.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-4-8j, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.
§18A-4-8j. Experience, training or certification considered
towards pay rate for school service mechanics.
Notwithstanding any provision of this code to the contrary, a
mechanic's experience, including, but not limited to, the amount of
years as a mechanic in either the public or private sector, any special training as a mechanic or any specific certifications held
by the mechanic, shall qualify and be considered in the mechanic's
pay rate for both present employees and potential employees. The
pay rate shall be commensurate with the amount of experience,
training or certification held by the mechanic to ensure that
school service mechanics stay competitive with the private sector.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to
allow a school service
mechanic to have experience, training and certifications considered
towards his or her pay rate.
